Hello, friends! Apologies for the lack of strips in the past week: somehow, our university campus’ network administrators have decided to limit even more proxy connections, and snapperffic.com became completely inaccessible other than an error message. The network here is getting quite terrible lately, as they also have filtered out certain URLs which contains the word sex (research on sexual harassment/sexually trasmitted diseases thus impossible), XXX, rape (similarly, research on rape cases), and so on and so forth. We also cannot download media files.

Strangely though, you can still play LAN parties of Warcraft DoTA. Which the whole campus is still playing and the network is still slower than a little snapping turtle’s walk!

Many happy returns! Sunday marks the beginning of the year for the Lunar calander, and thus all Chinese engage in many traditions and rituals which are customary to their social habits and beliefs. A dominant practice in this delightful display of cultural identity is the young’uns removing red packets filled with money from their elders in the most enthusiastic and interesting way. The former makes a ball out of their fists and bows his head down, revealing a tyrannical threat of violence to the latter, who will be forced to willingly depart with their life earnings while maintaining a smile on their faces. If you are unsure of the validity of this statement, feel free to discuss with any Chinese person you encounter in life (this excludes the teenagers with a desparate need to appear as hip hop artists).

I originally wanted to use the bronze statue images of the God/Not-Boddhivista of Prosperity from Buddha Museum but alas! the site was not working. Unfortunately, I’m not exaggerating about the abundance of those statues in Buddhist Temples.

Neither am I exaggerating the fortune cookie predictions. Well, other than the additional ones and the illustrations.
